City Officials Testing Several Systems During Trial Run That Lasts Through End Of Year

HOUSTON — Not-so-candid cameras began catching drivers running red lights Monday.City officials told KPRC Local 2 that they are testing several systems in order to pick the best one.During the trial run, which runs through the end of the year, cameras will capture images of the cars that run red lights. Officials will send a warning to the vehicle’s owner in the mail.

Starting on Jan. 1, vehicle owners whose car is caught running red lights by the camera will receive a ticket in the mail ranging from $75 to $150.The ticket will include a picture of the car before running the red light, going through the red light and a close-up of the car’s license plate.Cameras are currently set up at the following street intersections:

Travis at McGowen Milam at McGowen Milam at Jefferson San Jacinto at Texas
